I'd recommend a yellow top battery, reground your engine with 4gauge wires, get a cap - maybe 1.5 farats, and if you need to get an upgraded alternator to handle all that power. I did that in my last car. Good luck to you.

I use to work in a lighting Co. for Concerts and we would take small capasiters and charge them up and through them at each other so when you cought it you got Zapped. i was in on it till one day i was cleaning the ballest of a Zenon Spot light (spot Light Used For Shows Like Mettalica) the Cap is the size of a soda can and i thought i discharged it till my hand went accross it and i shot accross the shop landing about 10 feet away from it. i was blacked out for about 10 min. they said.

This has nothing to do with my Aveo i just think it's a cool story about Capasiters.
You did WHAT? to your Aveo? HAHAHAHAHA

Caps can be very dangerous. The amount of energy they store and the speed at which they can discharge can be deadly.

I also agree that it has a placebo effect, they can work a little bit when the time between beats is longer than the beat. therefore the cap has time to recharge(sometimes) for the next beat.

The best solution is what aveogyrl said, is getting an alternator that can support the high current your system needs. a capacitor will regulate voltage and a good one will "clean" the current giving you a better sound(maybe) but more importantly protect the amp for spikes from the alternator and make it's life longer.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Well, thank you all for your replies. I think I will end up sending the ground back to the rear seatbelt. I will need to change the wire though. I work at Circuit City (I know there was a reply about someone working there) so I think I could get a Capacitor for much less than what they have it for. I just dont like the thing of them being deadly. I think I will take aveogyrl's recommendation and get the yellow-top and upgrade the wiring.

Thanks to all for your .02 cents. I appreciate the help.

I had a geo metro with similar problems.. i know its not a aveo but some food for thought.. i was running 2 amps and tons of other stuff in it.. i got a red top optima, 4 farad cap and upgraded all my factory battery grounds with 4 ga. and also added a few more... the car went from almost going dead when it hit... to the lights not dimming at all when it hit..
