remote starter

I just installed a bulldog remote starter Rs92E and the starter activate wire said to go to the ign switch to the red/black wire and the brown it did not work this way. oh 2010 aveo. I tried it on the yellow at the fuse block under the hood wich bulldog says not to use for remote starter and it works great.
WHAT GIVES?

if it works it might be fine.. why bulldog does not recommend it i dont know? maybe its past a safety function in the circuit? like it will start even in gear.. etc..
