My 08 manual aveo is having a hard time starting if its been sitting overnight. Its sounds like its misfiring when it tries to start. Perhaps if I reset my ECU? Do I just disconnect the battery?

Yes you would just disconnect the battery. When i do that to any of my cars to clear a CEL light i pull the negative cable for a minute or so. But you might have other issues if your having hard to start conditions.
Sounds like a different issue, but do you have an cel? what leans you toward resetting the ecu? it not going to change the maps or anything like that...
Hard start ups wouldn't be caused by the ECU my friend, sounds like another issue.
it could be a stuck egr, it could be a missing component of the warm up idle (coolant temp sensor, map, iat?) if could just be wires, plugs or coil pack.
honestly, disconnecting the battery will not clear a code, in most cases it can turn the mil off (not always depending on code). in some vehicles, disconencting the battery can clear learned info from pcm/ecu but, if their really is something wrong, after certain conditions are met for your code, the light will come back on
My car ha been sitting at the dealership for 4 days now. Its never taken them so long to fix any of my cars before. The first day they didnt get around to it. The other days they been looking at at but so far havent been able to identify the problem. Last time I go there.
did they give you a rental?
