I'm trying to reassemble everything under the hood of my newly aquired Aveo. Since I didn't take it apart myself, its proving to be a nitemare. Anyone have a pic or diagram of the accessory belt? I need to figure out the locations of the idler and tensioner pully and the routing of the belt. Thanks!

How, pry tell, did you have someone else take it apart and not put it back together?
I thought there was a diagram on the underside of the hood... must be mistaken... I'll try to find one and post it up...

Good drawing. The smallest pulley in the middle is your tensioner. to loosen it up so you can slide the belt over it, put a socket on it and basically act as you are tightening the bolt and it will move the tensioner over so you can slide the belt on.

Are you sure? That's what I figured myself, but the belt is still loose. I see the tensioner, but shouldn't there be an idler pulley in there somewhere? Maybe I have the wrong damn belt...
Anyway, I was given the car by a neighbor's kid in trade for some motorcycle parts and tools. He started to tear down the engine after the timing belt snapped at 70,000 miles, but got in too far over his head for his mechanical abilities. Now, here I am stuck with a basket case and no repair manual
try looking up a kalos diargram on google or sumtin. or check out daewootech.com.
belt route wrong way. it goes around crank to tensioner then to alternator then around. cant post pic because im at work. lol
yeah, just figured it out: crank->tensioner->alt->ps pump->a/c comp->crank

just becareful with the tensioner, that piece is made of plastic and can break (personal experience)
Yea Dan that's the old way for the belt, remember. We did it wrong the first time and you had those problems...

gotta say those are the weirdest PS and Water Pump (?) pulleys I have ever seen...
anyone got spares so I can make them aluminum to match the crank pulley we are making?

The idler pulley does not pivot to loosen tension on the belt. Talked to Autozone they say to loosen the alternator adjustment pulley. Alternator at top rear (top left in belt routing) and is held on by 2 bolts, 1 above and 1 below. Loosened both and not getting any less tension on the belt. Any ideas?
I apologize. Just got my new belt on. You guys were right and Autozone blew it. Thought I had tried everything. Just had to tighten harder on the idler pulley. (Belt tensioner pulley) which was easy to get at behind the tire. Thanks.
I still cant find a belt diagram my 2009 aveo5 has a seperate belt for the power steering and water pump. I am adding a/c and cant figure out how the new belt goes
the bottom belt gets replaced with a longer one, and instead of going from the the water pump down to the idler/crank, it goes around the ac pulley. As far as everything else goes, its the same route as you took off.

11.99$ for booster cable because i had to come back home without a belt so it drain the battery,( if it happen to you be aware for not overeating)

Ok I have a 2009 with two belts one for everything and the other for power steering. How do I take the power steering belt offffff.
I also have a 2009 with two belts how do you remove the power steering belt ?

On my 2009 I took the two bolts out that bolt the pump to the block and take off the old belt then replace the main serpentine belt then place the power steering belt back on bolt the power steering pump back in place all done very easy and easier than the zip tie trick
