Short Ram to Cold Air

I have a short Ram intake in the aveo just because when looking for a space to put the tubing for a full blown cold air intake I found that it wasn't going to be easy. I still want to put in a full blown cold air intake to go in the corner of the bumber and possibly pop the plastic piece off and put a vent/scoop in it. I wanted to see if anyone has put in a cold air intake vs. the short ram and if they could post some good pics of it so I can see what you did.

look on ebay, both versions are available. basically you use the short ram. but instead of putting the filter on you put another pipe on that takes the filter into the wheel well..

then if you wanted to keep going you would need another silicone piece and another angle pipe and bracket, to bring it around front..

then put the filter on.

Did you have to make the stock intake hole in the fender larger? And on the inside of the wheel well the cabin intake is also there I believe connected to the air chamber what did you do with that? Just drill a hole in your pipe? Maybe I'm wrong about the cabin intake but I thought I saw it there... Oh and what size pipe is that?

Did not have to drill out the hole into the wheel well. I just took out the air box and resonator, no big deal. No idea about the cabin intake, I didnt see anything like that connected. Size piping...I'm not sure really anymore, I've had it for a while

Ok thanks, I'll be looking into this more. I'm definately going to put it in the wheel well, this made it a lot easier.

Seeing as how were talking about intakes I had a thought. What if you move the IAT sensor further down the intake on a CAI, thus it will read coole air and add more fuel which would help enhance your effectiveness of the CAI??? just a thought.

Interesting theory, but I believe if you have a proper CAI and not a cheaply made one, it would not make much of a difference. I believe material and wall thickness play a big factor. The one I have stays at a pretty decent temp, but when I tried the cheap plastic Spectre that anyone can get from NAPA, AZ, or AA, that thing heated up fast!

Hats off to that, thinking about insulating the pipe after I do the piping into the wheel well. That will keep it pretty cold.

So much truth but im thinking like this: If you have an AEM intake and you drill a hole about 2 inches from the end of it by the filter, it would be away from alot of engine bay heat soak and read way cooler temps then say it being next to the motor right?
