I have a 2007 Aveo sedan and I have replaced the spark plug wires twice in 25,000 miles The number 3 cylinder wire is melting on the exhaust manifold and shorting it out. Has anyone had this problem and would this fall under a warranty issue? thanks

Welcome to the site.
First off, what wires are you using? If they are connected how they should be they aren't anywhere near the exhaust manifold...

Why don't we have the sohc engine here in the states? Less moving parts, probably better fuel economy potential.... Can you run a zip tie or something like that on it over to another one to keep it from touching?

Keep a light foot.
I agree with the zip tie idea.
We don't have engine choices over here for a few reasons, most of them are marketing related. Here are a couple:
-more engine choices costs more, we like cheap cars
-smaller engines really aren't popular, bigger = better
Pretty sad that americans sacrifice better mpg for a bigger engine..? Another thing is the technology, look at the honda fit or the toyota echo especially the echo 5 sp mt gets crazy good mpg when driven right. Has very good gearing and a good 1.5ltr. I have no problem with the 1.6 but why not gear it to match the performance of the echo??? Oh yeah they are cheap! owell make due with what we can get I guess.

that particular engine is a prehistoric design with its two part head, etc...
sohc does not mean better fuel economy, the singapore 1.4l 16v would probably get better fuel ecomony than that 1.6l sohc..
we are getting the 1.4t soon enough.

and the tranmissions on all aveos are pretty much junk too, the only part from JapanOriginally Posted by hammsaveo
if the gearing was not so poor you would get at least 5mpg more easy on both trannys
