spark plugs are spark plugs. the more expensive ones will not make a difference at all.

thats true, the only real reason for different spark plugs is octane ratings with compression ratio, and variances in computer controlled spark.. ( for example a platinum plug seemingly doesn't require as high amperage coil and is typically used with coils on the plug where coils are small)

these designers plugs people buy, while they seem to think they see a huge difference in performance, it is mostly the fresh tune up they feel, and some non oem plugs can cause other damage like burning holes in the top of your pistons, etc..

With an Aveo, none of that really matters. I mean, it does matter, just not to an aveo.

      Buy cheap coppers.

      Re: spark plugs

I for one would def spend the extra cash for NGK Iridiums over cheap copper plugs, When i bought the car i ran it for a while with the stock plugs maybe for around 1.5 years, so i got used to the way the car was running with them.

Then i decided to give there Iridiums a try since i was hearing alot of ppl talk about them. I never noticed a performance increase of course, theyre just spark plugs, but one thing i did notice quite easily is how much easier the car would start, especially in winter and very cold weather, it cranks less then with the cheap plugs i had in it.

So yeah ive been using there for almost 4 years now and not going back to cheap copper, ever.

The 2.0 i just put in, the guys at the shop put brand new oem plugs in it, well as soon as i get it back the very 1st thing im doing is driving to the auto parts store to buy 4 NGK Iridiums without hesitation lol

I will promise you it was more due to the fact the OEM plugs were in there for a year and a half.

      Re: spark plugs

that is was my posts says, iridiums have more spark for less coil volts, but having more spark alone will not add performance, but yes i will get the fuel lit quicker on a cold start up..
but at the same time a bigger spark could eventually lead to pinging, detonation and possibly burn a hole through the top of the cylinder.. not saying it is going to happen, but it can..

my car always starters on the second turn of the engine, how much faster does it need to be?
