To return to the initial point of the thread: just because a stainless steel component is magnetic, that doesn't mean it's not stainless steel. And that's a fact, not just horse manure.

Good source material.
Here's your second post, verbatim:
Your statements in your second post are contradictory at the least. But in your first post you were adamant that the magnet test was irrefutable: "...grab a magnet, not staiinless in the least bit. Had my car up, checked headers, nope, checked immediately after flex pipe, nope. The only thing I couldnt check was the muffler. So to all those who say the exhaust on the 09+ is stainless, hate to say, but its not."Every stainless i have dealt with is either not magnetic or significantly less magnetic than regular steel. I work in a hardware store and all SS is nonmagnetic. That said, I do understand the magnet test isn't concrete evidence. But just looking at it it doesn't look like SS either. Just seems fishy to me
You can't tell stainless steel (especially used exhaust components) just by looking at it. Nor is the magnet test definitive. How do you know that the 300 type (which is non-magnetic) would be the only possible form of stainless used for an exhaust system?
Do you really think that a major car manufacturer would state that an exhaust system is stainless if it isn't?
Skepticism, doubt and adamant rants are not considered proof.
almost every stainless exhaust i have seen is magnetic.. they are not going to take surgical quality stainless steel and mount it underneath a car..
Q: I was always told stainless steel isn't magnetic. Why does a magnet stick to my stainless steel exhaust
A:
What you've heard about the magnetism of stainless steel is only partially true. Many grades of stainless steel are magnetic. It is only in the grades that have nickle added to their alloy, that loose their magnetic properties. We have noticed that our 409 Stainless steel products are a little magnetic but our 304 Polished Stainless steel pipes have little or no magnetic properties until they are stretched. Then they gain magnetic qualities!
For more information about stainless steel and it's properties, have a look atWikipedia's write-up about Stainless Steel.

On that second post, I didn't notice it, that's a typo. It should say all SS there is non magnetic. (Fasteners)
Notice how right after that i said i know the magnet test isnt concrete? And there is really only 3 types of SS used in exhaust, 2 are 300 series, and the other is 409.
OK, so we'll forgive you for the "typo" and ignore the strident assumption that your stainless exhaust couldn't possibly be stainless steel.
As I said before, I have enormous respect for anyone who can admit when they are in error, but no respect for those who might argue defensively and cannot admit it.
So let's hope this thread has been as informative as it has been contentious.
i am just curios what type of device you are measuring with to determine the amount of magnetic power of the exhaust pipe?
a spring dynamometer?
