2005 verona, not the new ones.
There are no new ones - they were dropped after the 2006 model year. Suzuki bought back the last 50 cars because they were so bad.
So, progress has halted. I lost 3 bids, but there are others on the block this coming Tuesday. Good thing is, thankful_ragamuffin sent me a guide on everything E-tec/D-tec, so I'll be able to do things right.
So, some interesting info I found out today. The Suzuki Reno, from which I am taking the engine, weighs 1,200 lbs more then the Aveo. This made me feel like I'm putting an AA battery into an AAA battery slot (although this AA battery is the same size).
So, do you guys think I'll notice the power of a 2.0l from a considerably heavier vehicle? Should I move the fuel pump from Reno to the Aveo?
For the work effort that it would entail, if it were me - I would run from a project like that, the reward is so little with these newer econobox cars - but it do know how fun it is to blow money on a car to make it fun. What are your goals for this rig? Is it a daily driver, road trip warrior? or do you plan to do something more? Auto cross rig? Any daily driver I would try to hold to the original design, so if it were my car I would sleeve the 1.6 block, replace what broke, and roll on down the road. But I like easy! Do some searches on here, I would think there have been swaps where a lot of the R&D has been done and you can save tons of money without having to fab up every little bracket and fitting and wire harness, ECM tables/reverse engineer micro code, etc. just to have something drivable. It's quite a chunk of work. For the effort, go for something more fun, like a small block chevy in an older Miata? or even something older and beat the snot out of that, way more fun in my opinion, and cheaper - but only for the amount of work involved. A stock Aveo is a great contender for the daily 'rat race' that is the norm IMO. - My .2cents
To answer your question. I'm going for the oddball. I don't like it when I drive around and see all the other generic hatchbacks and compact sedans, then notice I'm just like them in my aveo.
If I'm going to own this car for a couple years, I don't want it to be boring. I want to squeeze every last horsepower out of that 2.0 that I can. I want to go from 0 to 60, and have fun while doing it. I want to have reason for changing the name of my car from Valiant Skittle to Sour Skittle (getting a glow-in-the-dark vinyl wrap for the whole car, green). Lastly, this car brings a smile to my face everytime I open my garage door, so doing this will only make that it better.
I do plan on a daily/dirt rally style to it, so my plans are to get this engine, find higher-travel suspension, lighten the car while still keeping some comforts, wrap and then add an offset stripe or 2, and then make a full body kit.
To each his own , I will be quietly embarking on about 2 grand + for probably less than 25 horse, then mod some more, why?? because its mine. As for ur swap, I say do it, not to spite any one but to have what u want, and yes once the swap is done, another few mods should pay off in your lil Aveo.....car tuning never stops, there is always a weak link or maintenance that needs to be done
Should edit that, but you already commented. There are 5 other aveo5's in my small village alone, 2 being the same color and trim as mine. I don't like the idea of being like them, being that they all treat theirs like crap. I really don't want it to look like some terrible ricer, I want the wide body rally style. I am sorry if my post before offended someone.
Its your car. Might as well make it YOUR car.
