Should be an exciting project. Looking forward to seeing your swap.

So, got the Suzuki today. Ended up settling for one with 99k miles because it was buy-it-now instead of the dreadful bidding. We're paying for it around 4-6 pm tonight. After all the fees, and an unwanted $150 membership (getting a refund), it came out to just over $2k. Cost far more than I wanted it to, but I was done winning a car in the initial bidding process to just be outbid during the live bidding.
I'll have it before the end of the month, and spend a lot of time taking care of the engine while my brother sells the shell to buy his Elio. I plan on a 100% rebuild, although I told my mom I'd only do the top end.
If you have any questions about the rally conversion, or any info, go ahead and shoot. If one of you have the engine crane and/or the thing mechanics bolt the engine on to work on them, then I'm sure I could scrape up the little I have left if you come up with a reasonable price (I want to buy used, the Carquest in town has one for $260, which right now is too much.)
Like dis....
Check out a Harbour Freight or if a local rental is available
check craigslist as well.
Well, the car is in the process of getting ready to ship. The estimated shipping time on the site said 2-5 days for nearby states (it's in NY). It has 99,789 miles, and it doesn't look too pretty.
So, after it took 2 weeks to ship a compact car from west New York to northeast Michigan, the car is finally coming. Thing is, I have to stay up into the morning to sign for the car.
Yipee!
Woohoo, nice to hear some progress. I bet you're excited (I would be).
Well yeah, it's nice. The only thing is that it SNOWED last night.
Michigan, it's Halloween, not thanksgiving.
On topic-
The car came at around 2:30 am because the guys were having a hard time locating our house. They drove up in my brothers favorite truck with a black blob on the trailer. The guys get out, unstrap it, charge it up, (here comes my favorite part) and then they drove it off the trailer. My mom was getting so mad at me because she thought it would be immobile and useless, she looked like a kid on X-mas when she saw the guy drive it by.
Now for the more serious stuff-
- burns oil, light white smoke clouds.
- dent in the back that wasn't there.
- it smells like a fat guy that hasn't ever seen water.
- batteries dead as dead can be, this is gonna be fun getting it into the barn. (Easier than pushing though)
With the oil burning thing, it wasn't think. It was like when you breathe out on a really cold day, like near or below zero.
