throttle cable

alright another thing i noticed whiel my hood was up fixing my intake was that the throttle cable has a little bit of slack on it....no i saw on another forum for the scion xb/xa that the owner shortened that cable a tab and got better response....would that work here too since there is slack because i do notice a little bit of lag when i step on the gas....if so how would i go about doing it? or is there an adjustment any where on it?

I would guess theres an adjustment somewhere maybe if you follow the line to see where it leads to and if theres any where to make the possible adjustment.

I can't say for sure for the Aveo cuz mine's a 2006 with drive-by-wire, but on my old Civic, there's an adjustment sleeve/bolt system similar to a barrel adjuster for bicycle brakes and specs were ~2-4mm slack.

It'll raise the rate your RPM's are idiling at...yes it'll help throttle response time but like i said u will have a higher idle.

not if i just eliminate the slack...i dont plan on moving it any further than that

there is a way to adjust it but not a bolt type...when the black sleeve that covers the cable starts, it has notches and you can move it back about 2 notches to tighten the cable and still keep stock idle....on the other side of the throttle pulley is a screw which as long as your pulley can touch that screw idle when stay stock so you need to get it so that the pulley barely touches (where as stock it rests on it which gives a tad bit of lag in the throttle)...now i just need to move the metal clip that locks the throttle cable adjustment into position.

now that i think about it...i may have tightened it but i still need to shorten the cable because i didnt change the cable length at all that way...the quest continues
