      Timing Belt

Does the 2nd gen aveos have the same problem that the first gens had? I am just now at 50k miles. Should I have it replaced or do these ones actually last how long they say they should(100k miles)

if im going by my owners manual it says 100k miles(even online says this). So the manual should be right about this correct? or have they been known to break sooner?

      1st gen is 60k miles

      2nd gen is 100k miles

You are fine if you have the 2nd gen.

Where are people getting 60k miles for 2nd gen aveos?

There are no "problems" with the belts, they will go that length 95% of the time, and of course, if the belt is 5-6 years old, you may want to change it. Way too many people have no idea what they are doing, do not change the belt when they need to, then come on here with broken timing belt threads.

You got a way to go then, actually, I have not yet seen or heard anyone with a broken 2nd gen belt yet (of course, the oldest 2nd gen cars are 3-4 years old max). I would say to change it at 90,000~ miles, but it is nothing I would ever worry about.
