I'm Installing my 2nd Gate Timing Belt Kit TCKWP335 due to the 60k its the kit with Waterpump Idler & Tensioner. What issue I'm having is when I set the tension on the belt & line up everything up & start the car the belt walks towards the back of the cam pulleys about 1/8 inch. I have tried removing & installing it about a dozen times. I was just wondering if anyone ever had this issue..

If it was your first time doing this job, I would ask about the parts being torqued correctly and the tension being set right. But it sounds like you're beyond that, so the only thing left is a bad part. To confirm that you can swap the old parts in one-by-one, until the problem part is found.
the belt is going to center itself to all the pulleys as it spins, whichever of the pulleys have the lip on the ends determines where the belt resides. As long as it stays on the pulley and is not interfering with other parts or rubbing again something, it will be fine.
So if the belt isn't rubbing on anything it should be fine?? Do you think I should return the gates kit & get a better kit?Quote:

one of the pulleys should have an "Edge" on it to hold the belt in place. correct? that is what holds the side to side.. did any of you pulleys have that? being i don't have the earlier. looking at the DIY it look alike the gear on the crank is the one that keeps it from moving back. is the belt off the backside of any of the pulleys?
I was taken apart so I could show photos. I'm gonna try & install I think I just need to start over & install the old pulleys. I'd just figure someone maybe had this issue before & I could fix it..Quote:

UPDATE I installed the old tensioner & the belt tracking issue went away.. I can not find a single issue with the new tensioner though so I don't know what 2 do..Quote:

it could have been slightly twisting under pressure moving the belt with the twist.
