      timing belt whining now....

Well it looks like I'm going to have to tear apart everything again the timing belt appears to be whining and I'm assuming it's too tight.. On the timing belt tensioner I lined up the arrow with the groove but now I see online that you're supposed to line up the two arrows instead of the groove..Iis this correct?

if so my belt is way too tight..

      help..

Thats right, you needed to back off the tensioner to line up the two arrows

Yes back it off, too tight and will bind the water pump bearing, among other nasty's. The groove is just for turning the belt by hand to take a set, then line up the arrows for it's running position. Water pump bolts should be 98 inch pounds.

Well I went ahead initially and put all new pulleys and new tensionerr, new water pump , new timing belt a week ago . So t's been sitting in the garage for seven days with full tension on the belt tensioner thuson the timing belt as well and then I ran it yesterday for the first time for about 25 minutes then realized the problem and now I'm going to release some of the tension on the timing belt and button it all up... I hope I didn't over stretch the belt this reducing its life expectancy considering there's been too much preload on it for days as I'm still going to use that belt... I don't feel like pulling the engine mount off, taking that NEW belt off, and putting on another NEW belt,,, so hopefully Itll be fine..
