      Question Timing Belts

I have read on this forum where several folks have had issues with there 2009s timing belts at relatively low mileages (44K and 51K). It is my understanding that the timing belt in a 2009 is a rubber belt. Can someone confirm?

Also, I have a 2004 that I have not replaced the timing belt on and it has 136K miles. However, I believe that the 2004 has a metal timing chain...again, can someone confirm?

      Thanks in advance.

All belts on aveos are rubber.

04-08 need to be changed every 60k miles

09+ need to be changed every 100k miles

The belts can last forever if they choose too, I suggest changing yours though, are you the original owner?

I have not seen anyone with a 09+ have issues with their belts, unless the car is a lemon/they screwed up, etc....

I think you may have your years mixed up. The early Aveos had issues with the timing belt going on rare occasion. The 2nd gen Aveos haven't had any issues I'm familiar with.

It's become such a redundant question here that there should be a sticky on it.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

I have said that in about half of my posts

Or, have a "timing belt broken?" sticky as well, that would be a fun filled thread.
