Tomorrow begins
Tomorrow night I'll be parking Vera (04 LS hatch) in my buddy's garage and beginning the second timing belt job of its life. The first was at ~70-72K after it broke and took the head with it. Then, a year or a little more the t-stat housing cracked blowing the head again. And that's when I became her mechanic. Shortly before this I became her owner's boyfriend also.
Man, I like the car but for some reason I do not like working on this car! And I'm a PT mechanic and LOVE turning a wrench. So this is a thread to house my bitching and ranting and anyone else's comments they feel the need to add.
ENJOY!

comparatively, its easy to work on. Especially since the engine compartment isnt cramped.

I'm hoping I get most of the way through it tonight. However I'm not sure how long the Jeep we are working on is going to take to finish and Anna may be going out tonight with it so that will delay when I can tear into it. But I'm hoping in 2 evenings we can punch it out.

My thermo housing just cracked this evening on my way home from work but not seriously enough to overheat or blow the head thankfully. I have it in the garage now and will get the updated one in the morning from the dealership. So funny how that happens after 7 yrs of no problems and 151000 miles. Also weird that it should happen 2 days before I get my 2012 Jetta that I'm picking up on Friday. Still keeping my Aveo as my daily driver unleast until it runs no more.

Well, decided last night to postpone this until next week. Me and my buddy still have about 40lbs of venison to process and some work in the shop to do. We will be taking my father-in-law's Nissan to the Christmas gatherings.
