Top Speed?

The Lanos has a .32 CD whereas the Aveo has a .35 CD. This is fairly significant when calculating top speed. Here is an article I wrote on the subject.

According to that, we should top out at 125mph in the Aveo. I personally have only seen 110 indicated at 2000ft elevation.

we need 105 hp at the wheels. With only 85whp, our max theoretical speed is 115 mph.

To go faster, you can do three things: More HP (fairly easy), Lower Cd (unless you're a mechanical engineer, good luck) or Lower frontal area (Lower springs and no bodykits easy, anything requires extensive body work.)

Simple answer has always been... we need more HP.

I know this is an old thread but I'm bored.

I got mine up to 103 MPH and it felt like it could still go but I didn't want to get a ticket from jonny law.

Yeah it will feel like it still has some until you get to the max speed. At those speeds, 5mph more require a lot of hp.

i did 105 in mine once and it felt like i could get a little more out of it, but not much!!

I pulled 115 out of my 05 LS and it felt like it wanted to keep going. Lets just say, I didn't have it to the floor. And I have to say, it handled well at that speed.

What the theoretical top speed for a 4.176 (original is 3.944) final gear ratio manual gear box? I am running on 17 inch also. 205/40/ZR17 compared to original 155/55/R13.

I think my speedometer are off (not accurate) already because of the above 2 modification. But wonder how much off are they. Are they faster than actual speed or slower than actual speed? By how much?

I know mine engine cut off at 6.6K rpm. Any way to remove the power cut? My engine is still pulling strong when the cut came in. My tuner told me I should be able to rev to 7.5K to 8k if I removed the power cut.

got mine to 102ish MPH today... Windy....

I dont like the way the car feels at that speed....
Maybe it will be a bit better when i lower it, but the suspension was not doing what i like... felt a bit lifty to me... moAr Downforce!!!
