Trouble Lining Up Cam Gears 20011 Aveo

Im replacing the head gasket on a 2011 chevy aveo and im trying to line the cam gears to the cam shaft but there isnt any notches in the cam gears, the camshafts have notches but the cam gears dont.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance...

I think you need to modify a piece of flat stock to hold the the cams in position using the notches on the rear of the camshafts. Then there is a tool to line up the cam pulleys while you tighten the bolts. I've heard that autozone or advanced auto might rent the tools.

Not the right tool, but you should get the idea:

Be very careful not to damage the little pickup ears on the back of the camshafts.
