Are our transmissions non-synchronized, at least in the first generation? I was told it was not but just want to ask everyone else!

Far as I know reverse has been the only non synchro gear in gear boxes since the 60's. So all gens should have synchro gear boxes, at least in the forward gears. If you are having to 'double clutch' some gears, then you may have a broken synchro ring.
all factory transmissions have some sort of synchronizing in them now.
real question is why do you ask?
Because I had once asked why reverse sometimes grinds, when going into it slow, and someone told me it was not synchroed... SO i was just wondering!
That would be correct, reverse gear does not have a synchro ring as we don't often need to shift into reverse while the car is moving. But all forward gears are synchronized.
what 06T200 said, if you are grinding reverse, you need to stop moving.
