      a common misconception.
gas mileage ratings for the Naturally Aspirated Buick 3800 V6 (L36) are about 22-24 city, 28-30 highway. Fuel economy ratings for the supercharged variant (L67) are about the same. 1 MPG isn't going to make a noticeable difference. I have however seen an L67 get over 32 MPG. Ari's Oldsmobile Intrigue has the L36 and before she blew the motor, it was getting about 33 MPG. Not bad for a 3.8L V6.
Of course, just like with a turbo. more boost = less MPG

I rather have a bigger engine but looking at the imfo on line it looks like quite a bit of work, like the Forenza 2.0 witch is supposed to be the easiest to swap u got to extend harnesses, the ECU needs to be changed, the gauges need to be modified and the 1.6 acessories(alternator, a/c pump and etc) won't fit. I've done lots of custom work and projects and I'm burned out, too much hard work and headaches. So I leave to u young guys with all the projects and headaches, I'm just going the easiest way from now on.

actually from what I recall reading, the gauges don't need to be changed/modified when swapping to the Forenza/Reno 2.0L. The 2.0L can run off the 1.6L's computer but it makes the engine run lean. and the 2.0L's computer connects to all the same places as the 1.6L. The 2.0L also bolts to the same transmission.

There are many turboes that would work nicely with our 1.6L engine. However, there aren't any commercially made manifolds to bolt it up to. So, you would have to have one custom made which really isn't that big of a deal.

lol. That's when you have no problem putting your right foot down. Those V6's are alot more efficient than people give them credit for.
