      Red face

just checking in, its been awhile
might have a spot to take the car off the road for a few seasons

today for reference there are some observations to further the argument about turboing the stock 1.6L motor or installing any better motor

the honda (car A) civic type r weighs in at a decent 3100 lbs (assume no rear seat delete)
the honda civic type r has 306 hp (assume this is crank not rwhp)(oops fwhp yada yada)

the sparky (car B) example would weigh in say 2650 lbs
the sparky example would have say 275 hp

car A has power to weight ratio of 0.09871
car B has power to weight ratio of 0.1042

these are very similar numbers and further my argument

car A costs 41 thousand to 65 thousand say cananuck bucks
car B costs say 3-5 thousand cananuck bucks maxxe (assumption)

but one gets the point.. its going to be about traction not power

      ps
for the curious math minded folks
car A would have 11.2% more hp in this example
car A weighs 17.4% more lbs in this example (talk about a fatty)
just by the numbers this means sparky would become a hot hatch

car A would have 25.0% more displacement (to be corrected)
car A would have 11.2% more power (to be corrected)

This picture was about 2 years ago I can't seem to find the rest in my computer, but I ran my 1.6 for a year and half with about 7psi and no problems. I have lsj swap my aveo in December and still working on it.

Also you can install honda b18 headers, you'll need to customize the exhaust at the bottom so they fit the aveo exhaust and pre drill some holes because only three line up. I also made a coil over plug system but couldn't really get them to work with the aveo ecu. The car would sometime start, backfire or not start at all, but the times it did start man you can really feel the difference on acceleration with coil over plug system.

Thanks for those pics Suprasalas1! Consider the b18 header on the list! The turbo header layout in the first pic really helps me out too. Even before any of this turbo stuff happens I have to redo the entire manifold to tip setup. Thankfully almost all of that new pipe setup can be re-used or even setup to retrofit the turbo in. The idea is that I'll do all the mechanical setup and then take it to a special shop to set up the the turbo, the intercooler, new new stuff, the wiring harness and the break in runs.
Hey Suprasalas1, you mentioned a write-up on your turbo setup, any chance you got some more time to post more pics? I know you mentioned to me several mandatory modifications before one can do a turbo in that reply to my pm.

Hey Suprasalas1 forgot to mention the coil over plugs mod which looks really interesting, why do you think the motor wouldn't start, and what do you think you would do to pre-start the motor to solve/avoid this situation?

Heya hexskrew you present a more technical amount of stuff on the topic - thank you! We need as much input as we can to make this even remotely feasible, which btw is a defined 'point' in this thought experiment/project.

Today my argument is that this project is feasible, and thats a good thing

It is a little difficult to explain but ill try and do my best to explain my theory, i believe it had to be due to the transistor inside the aveos stock pcm. Either the transistor can not carrier enough amperage to fire two coils in series circuit or simply because the voltage difference between the firing signals (ground) coming from the aveos pcm. The aveo uses a waste-spark system to fire two spark plugs at once and a coilover plug uses a signal from the pcm to trigger a transistor in side the coil so it can fire it. I don't know if any of this is making sense to you, but if I would of spent more time and effort trying to make it work I might of figured it out.

I have sent my laptop out to get everything out of my hard drive, pictures of parts, part numbers and my turbo set up i was running in my aveo was all in there . I had left my laptop inside my car during last summer in 120 degree weather, when i got off work i notice my laptop making some wired noises. when i opened it the blue screen of death was all i saw the laptop had crashed with everything i had in it, Im hoping the I.T. guy comes though with my hard drive.

Suprasalas1 perhaps a phone call is now required.. you are documenting your own ridonculous build and here I am super curious about the turbo build you did.. anywho there are a lot of specific things that need to be done and someone has to document it, and you seem busy perhaps. Perhaps since you are busy.. a phone call would do, but who knows if you want it all documented here no prob either.

Don't mind what you've lost, surely there is the ability to make another turbo etec.. it does speak of the wiring harness. The part about running the motor does confuse me, the parts required confuse me less. Like how the stock fuel pump is un-useable for example.

So Suprasalas1 you sent me a pm back in March 2018 with a lot of really informative information, it requires clarifications.

-as a public open sourced type of individual, share everything because always get back more
-intellectual property conflicts with me and my basis of teaching and learning, its a weird landscape
sooo.. haven't heard from Suprasalas1 in a bit, going to clarify the butter:

      ---pre-start------
      ---start------

-like always on forums you will find out people will just give you the same answer
      -wrong car for modding
      -swap the engine
      -why an Aveo
      -buy your self another car
      -keep it stock, etc

-do some research on diy turbo set ups
      -and don't lose interest.

      -the aveo uses speed density
-using the map and intake air temp to calculate engine load
-sadly the map and ecu map do not read/understand boost

-to make things worse daewoo kept the gm ecu but added some programming

-hp tuners will not communicate with the aveo ecu
-two possible ways to tune the ecu are
      -a piggy back system
      -a stand alone system

-moreover the aveo is a non return fuel system meaning
-the fuel pressure is regulated at the fuel pump
-with a set pressure from factory

-to over come this you will
      -upgrade the pump and
-install a fuel pressure regulator at the fuel rail and
-add a return line to the gas tank (p0455 po498 must be solved)
-no matter which turbo you pick everything will need to be custom made:
      -the manifold
      -the down pipe
      -the oil supple
      -the drain

      -=----end

daewootech.com doesn't work anymore it seems, but it seems to load but it doesn't
there are some cars to talk about the kalos the lanos the b200 foursome for example
man what happened to dae woo tech i wonder to myself if only i had access to that

if i think that daewoo and mercedes needd to have a 'jam session'
nobody else thinks that daewoo and mercedes need to conflict in an 'eclectic' point of view

i am just talking about a cheap turbo car that will stand for ten more years under the clothes line so to speak
