      Upgrading to a HO alternator?

Hi, Not sure I'm in the correct section, but my alternator went out on my 2006 Aveo. Everything on my car is stock. I have no CD player - just radio and roll up windows. I do have A/C. The dealer keeps telling me that the standard alternator is fine with lower power usage that my car uses.

My alternator went out and as I was looking in to replacing it I have seen a lot talk about upgrading to a High output. Is this needed or better for my car and is the installation the same or does it require rewiring?

Also, I'll be replacing this myself. Is there a section to help with installing this and do I have to remove belts?

      Thanks!!
      Kimberly

Not sure about how to put it in or anything mechanical. But a HO would be better only if you run a lot of power in the cabin or otherwise. Seeing what you have in the car now, you'll do just find with the stock alternator and will save you some $$$

Thanks! I figured my car would be fine with the stock Alternator... huge difference in price.

The high-output alternators are pretty hard to get and fairly expensive. I would only go for a HO if you start doing very intensive car audio. Mine ran just north of $300 for like a 135A
