      valve cover leaking?

      hey guys

the aveo has been with my mother-in-law for a couple years now. i just drove it this morning and noticed a burning oil smell coming from the engine bay.

i popped the hood and saw what looked to be like the valve cover leaking down the front of the engine...

is this a common issue? car is an 06 but only has about 110,000km +/-

Looks like the valve cover.... also looks like a plastic thermostat housing.... I've read a lot of bad things about the plastic ones falling apart, it should be changed for a metal housing.

Valve covers are always suspect to leaking. Should take about 30 min and basic hand tools to replace.

That looks like the fill valve that goes to the water tank.

I would change the valve cover gasket and the thermostat housing. I had a buddy do my valve cover gasket because I have never done one before. My gasket came off in about 7 pieces. The one we replaced it with was twice as thick. With the thermostat housing, it would be best to change now before it starts leaking. That only took me about 10 minutes to change. Also if you're ever curious about your valve cover, if there is oil on your spark plugs then it also means its gone bad.
