      Vibrating alot in reverse??

I guess I want to see if anyone else has had this problem. We just had a big snow storm so I decided to drive the wife to work in the Aveo to test the snow tires....let me tell you it plowed through the snow without any problems. The next day I start the car to warm up and a few minutes later I get inside and noticed a strong vibration with the keys and steering wheel visibly shaking but outside of the car it was normal idling. I shift the car in reverse and the vibration was a lot more intense to the point it scared the sh!t out of me. I took a peek underneath and noticed a lot of snow which turned to ice covering the bottom. When I drive it's normal, decelerating at a stop light gives a bit of a rumble and idling in drive is okay. All the gears do work when driving so I don't think it's the tranny (i'm definitely no expert) but from google searches it seems to be the engine mount. The link here: Low rumbling sound when in Reverse = Bad Engine Mounts : Honda Civic Common Engine Problems is exactly what I am experiencing.

I will have the dealer check this out tomorrow and I will report back on what the issue is to help other members who may experience the same issue but has anyone else had this happen too? I have 08 Aveo5 with auto trans. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks

It very well could be an engine mount, the dog bone for instance will allow the engine to shift with the axle torque.

Yes, I would wait to see what the car does without ice and snow though.

That is great advice barbor98 as I took it out early this morning and this time it was only in reverse that was vibrating but less than yesterday. I went underneath and can see it still had a considerable amount of ice but less as it is slowly but surely melting from the heat of the engine. By the time I dropped off my wife at work shifted to reverse and no longer has any vibration and feels normal again. I will let sit until it gets cold again and see what happens but for now it seems that the ice build up is the cause of this vibration.

Okay, i want to bring this thread to an end as the net is filled with threads with no conclusion and it becomes very annoying when you are trying to get answers, so here it is.....I went to start the car this morning and all is normal as all the ice underneath has melted away. It did however have the same symptoms as the link i posted above so I hope this helps anyone who tries to 4x4 their Aveo through snow banks and get the same vibration happen to them.
