If I think of it I can try one on my next change. The AC Delco I just put on is not a disappointment so far.

I will think of a better signature later.
They are very good filters. GM now has their Genuine GM line, but for the longest time, they used AC Delco.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
That's what I thought.

I'm no expert on oil filters, but I saw a video clip on you tube that convinced me never to buy another Fram filter.
I have been using Fram for as long as I have been driving, Never had a problem. Don't believe everything you see on youtube. If you want to know what filters are the best, talk to the experts, read user reviews on several websites, and just get to know about filters a little bit. I have seen a comparison over a few filters, and there are a lot worse choices than fram. And that includes a few of the expensive brand filters.

its all about who does the testing, the fram controversy starts because they use (or used) cardboard to hold a paper filter together inside the filter, where as more expensive companies (in their example) were using metal ends on a more "fabric" filter.
but fram is probably perfectly fine for a 3000 mile oil change, but i think you might run into problems trying to run it for 6-10k which is starting to become more "normal" for people running synthetic. Of course i have some empty pizza boxes sitting out for garbage that show how well cardboard holds up to oil based things..
Daug1502, what are some of those "expensive bramd filters" you mentioned earlier? Thanks!
Lmao, it's been a long time since I read up on this and i'm not sure what it was anymore. Plus in the last couple years pretty much everything has gotten better thanks to newer technology. But I will look for the argument real quick (before I post this) and let you know. If I can find the thread on that forum I will post a link to that.

I'm not saying Fram is better or worse, I just want to encourage research and not wasting money. When I start doing more performance modifications to my car, I will probably not use Fram, I will take that time to do the research and find the best performance filter for my motor, at the best price.

i honestly dislike that second link, while he went further than 99% of the people by tearing them apart, and also measuring.. he did not interpret the design differences very well and even made and posted assumptions (like this filter is just a ______) which he can't back up..
the design changes matter in other ways as well, the most important thing in the filter is the anti drain valve works, you dont want to starve the top end every time you start the car. Surface area to me means less, it will always take the path of least resistance, so most of the "filter" that is used is the most direct path, if/when that gets clogged, it will start to use other areas of the filter. Look at your air filter, its almost always dirtier in one spot. a larger surface area only increase longevity for you guys running synthetic etc. running a larger than oem filter can help with cooling the oil, keeping sludge down, i agree with that.
its weird that the fram was most expensive, not usually the case when im buying filters.
Has anyone used Fram Synthetic 5W30 in their Aveo? It's manufactured by Conoco Phillips, who I think also makes Motorcraft oil. Thanks in advance!
