I drive my 04 Aveo 170 miles round trip to work and back daily. I use 5w-40 full synthetic mobil-one w/ a mobil-one oil filter. I go 10,000 miles between oil changes. I bought my car with 50,000 miles on it, I now have close to 100,000 miles one it and have had no trouble with it in any way. I run between 75 and 80 mph with it, getting around 29 to 33 mpg with it. I was told to change the filter every 5,000 miles, I don't do that because the filter I buy cost twice the price of a normal filter and is supposed to last twice as long. I know a lot of people will jump on this post, but I'm just sharing what I do with you. Great little car, I love it.

any 1 who jumps on your post as you say dosnt have a clue what they are talking about! 1.you use good quality oil. 2.good quality oil filter. 3 mostly hyway .your filter is as important as the oil, a cheap filter will fall apart even in the best of oil over time.i tottally agree with what you do as a matainance schedule.i my self buy what ever synthetic oil is on sale (under 25.00 per 4.4 l jug)and a wix filter.i change mine every 5-7 thousand kilometers just because that makes me sleep at nite.i do all work myself so at 30.00 per oil change i dont care if i over do the maintenance a little.

Just changed to synthetic blend 5W30 offered by Chevy dealer here in Iowa. Probably all in my head but seems smoother and quieter even though I adhered to 3 K between changes before with conventional 5W30 oil and GM filters. My two cents.

I just got my car serviced at the Chevrolet dealership and fully synthetic GM TechSSS is now 2,190baht here is Thailand, around $71 dollars for 4 liters - ouch! I found this article about the new dexos 1 specification for GM oil which could explain the price increase, but most likely I just paid more for the same oil as before.
