What is this? Broken part.

I have an '04 SVM, 5 speed with about 74k miles. Can anyone tell me what this part is? And what symptom I should be noticing since the hose is broken? Also, where can you get a factory service manual and how much do they cost?

The part is located on top of the engine toward the firewall. I can take another picture tonight, zooming out, to give better perspective.
Can someone point me to a link for the torrent? I was browsing posts last night and all links I found to a FSM were dead.

I've never used a torrent before but i installed bittorrent and tried to download the manual from the link. I've had no luck. It looks like it is trying to download but just hangs. Am I doing something wrong?

no, one of the people that have it on their computer have to be seeding it. I just turned mine on for the morning, so you should start downloading now if you are still trying.

Yeah, thats the vacuum actuator for the secondary intake runners. It shouldn't cause problems, but it will reduce high rpm power.

Called my dealer parts dept. He said the part is listed as vgis valve solenoid. I have no clue what that is or what it does. Anyway, the new hose is $4.72.

vgis is "variable geometry intake system" which is fancy talk for runner selector.

basically your engine has two intake ports running to each cylinder, a long one and a short one, that piece chooses which one to use for maximum performance..
