What do you think? K&N performance drop in vs Cold air Intake?

How would they measure up performance wise?
I'm looking for 10+ hp

I recently replaced my air inlet duct hose that was a whopping 90 bucks from the dealer.
Its only about a week old.. I would hate to rip it off and it rest unused to stick on an intake kit.

though an expensive CARB certified air intake kit would be worth it to me had I not just spent the 90 bucks on a potentially unneeded part..... btw, the air inlet duct hose im assuming you guys understand to be the accordian hose on the stock intake system.

anyway, 40 bucks for a k&N drop in or go ahead a put on the air intake?
I would be springing for an expensive kit because It's got to be C.A.R.B certified to pass smog in California.
I've got enough mods to not pass smog as it is. :headbang:

Should have thought of it sooner. I made a cheap intake from a piece of 2.5 inch exhaust pipe flanged, on one end, to 3 inches for the filter to fit. Dont know if it will pass tests or not but is working well for me. Oh the 2.5 inch end fits into the factory plastic tube.

Glad I could help. Don't forget to make a bracket to help hold it in place. I bolted a solid piece of steel to one of the upper bolts where the old filter box was and hose clamped it to my pipe.

NO, mine needs a different hose clamp so I can get the block of wood i'm using for a spacer out first lol.
