So I read the timing belt thread and I just lined it up with point B. So I guess by doing that the tension wasn't even on the belt? I guess the damage is done since it has been like this for 8000kms and 6000 of those where non stop highway kilometers. Thinking of just buying a new kit with water pump to be on the safe side incase it put extra strain on the water pump bearing. Can't believe I have been doing it wrong for so long, that's the way I have done the previous 2 timing belts without issue

I've got 210,000kms on my car. Did the first two belts at 80,000 and 160,000kms and I did the last one early at 200,000kms because I was moving 2000kms from home without a garage to work on my car. was hoping it would have been the last timing belt I was going to put on the car before getting rid of it but I guess not now.

Bearings in the tensioner may be shot. I t makes a distinctive whine when they are.
