05 aveo aftermarket tail lights

I went back thru the thread to `09 and didnt find what i was looking for, im hoping i can ask and someone might know. i ordered a set of black tail lights/headlights for my black aveo and the tail lights are molded differently than the originals for my car. i called the company and asked them, and they said it was the only set of lights available for the 05 aveo. im thinking either i got ones for a sedan or they dont sell the correct tail lights for the aveo. Im think of notching out the back of the car so this light fits. any opinions?

I have had this exact same problem. When you push in the tail lights, they dont go in all the way correct? What i did was switch the two brake light bulbs into the opposite sockets. If you do this the tail light will fit but you must cut out some of the grooves where the socket "push and turns" into the tail light cuz the grooves are different on each socket. Hope this helps! there should be little studs that hold the light in the trunk those should be adjustable if in not mistaken to move the light closer or further from the trunk.
