anybody wanna joey mod my headlights

I really wanna do this to my car but im nervous. I tried it on my Colorado I had awhile back and something reacted with the lens and chemical burned them. needless to say I had to buy all new lights. maybe someone with experience or some real good tips can help me out with this as I do not wanna have to buy new lights again lol. do you think I should go black or red
