I have a 2005 Aveo LS in which the latch for the gas door has broken and therefore the door does not stay close. What is the best way to replace/fix this besides using my current method of duck tape to keep the gas door shut.

Some good suggestions in the thread linked above.
My fuel hatch was broken by thieves, so I attached a fairly strong magnet on the inside of the hatch door. To open you just need to push on the front of the hatch door behind the hinge. Stays closed and flush with the body the rest of the time, see below:

However, the replacement part is quite cheap and there is a video or two on Youtube of getting the replacement in:

This might sound weird but i cut a metal hanger and use a piece and slid it into the hole and it has been like that for years...It stays shut without problems....
