ill just buy one of those vis ones of ebay
The ones on ebay usualy have defects in them, at least from what ive seen
what kind of defects?
like cracked corners or bubbles
thats not good, i guess il have to look at the sellers feedback closely
get a good description. but yes most ebay ones are paint quality, or race ok.. not show CF.
i guess ill just paint it then
Whats the point of having a nice cf hood if your gonna paint it.
If i were to get a cf hood specially at the price theyre at, id like to show off the cf look, not paint it, if you want something lighter then stock get a fiberglass hood or something worth putting paint on.
i want to leave the cf finish but i dont want the cf to look bad eithier
light weight.Quote:

You will lose like 10 pounds with a cf hood, the aveo hood is extremely light for a metal hood compared to ther cars ive seen, my friend mazda 3's hood is like 3 times heavier.
If your gonna get cf ffs leave it original, the ones on ebay have little scratches and some small bubbles on the clear finish, usualy it comes out when you wetsand/buff it. Its not as bad as it sounds.
yeah, its not really worth doing to lighten an aveo, and its not really worth taking the weight from the front wheels on a fwd car anyhow. But something like a mustang, camaro, etc where the weight difference is like 30-40 lbs (guessing). And probably 10 lbs less than fiberglass.
CF is mean for racing, its just also become a style thing. A carbon fiber race hood for an aveo would weigh like 4 lbs.
yeah ima install it when its painted, i already have to have it buffed and finished anyways, im going to have a lime green aveo with the same rims and cf hood, should look good, i want something similar to the 2nd gen eclipse in the F&F
one of my friend has a cf hood on mazda 6 and got a nice airbrush done to it
and you can still see some cf thru the paint job
the main part is cf look and he made it look like if it was a cf vinyl that's peeling off on the sides which shows the color of the car and with some added details within the paint job
that would look crazy :P
I'm about to make my own CF hood and trunk. Will post pics, updates and materials lists.
VersusMotorSport.com, check them out for their contact info. They don't have it listed for the aveo, but they had it in stock when I called them. So unless I got the last one, They should have them. And I picked mine up for $230 (!!!) because they're moving warehouses at the moment and are selling everything for pretty much what it costs them... So with shipping you're probably looking at around 300. There were a couple of imperfections on the hood, but I think I actually caused them when I drove them in the back of my HHR protected only by some bubblewrap... :D That's part of the reason for the "Lion's face" paint theme going on on the hood... the BMW style... The imperfections on the driver's side edge are painted now. I like my hood, and it is one of the OEM style hoods. Fits well.Quote:

ill have to call then, i didnt see it listed though as you said, maybe they got more( my hood is messed up)
Messed up as in the paint chipping or dings/dents in the actual hood panel? If they're out you could always use 3M carbon fiber vinyl... :D... don't know how well that works though. Did anyone here try that?
make me a set, or at least the trunk hatch :DQuote:

anyone see any? Besides on the sites that look like a bunch of BS...
this is next on my long list
wut else is on your long list lol
i wanna get a carbon fibre hood but i always wondered
1. how they hold up against salt and snow in the winter?
2. how they hold up against rain and any other weather you can think of?
lol red, a lot of things...Me and rabbit are planning the trany swap and other things along with that (coilovers and a short shifter if he has any made up). On my own down here, I have my headers and rear strut bar on the way along with the underdrive pulley, as well as any parts from the next group buys we will be having.
The tuning thing down in miami might shape up into something so I will go down there for that, and I will end up getting my tint and killswitch in tampa this upcoming semester possibly. Not really worried about the hood but it would be nice to have one, if i have the chance to buy one, i will.
As for CF hoods, I do not know much about CF pieces in general, though it really needs to be taken care of.
