Tired of debating of wether on not to buy Honda/VW parts and hacking the **** out of them. Does anyone have a reputable source for custom carbon fiber/fiberglass work. I am seriously looking for a mid wing, fender flares, and side mirrors( or base plates so I can use a universal JGTCC style door /a-pillar mount mirrors. I was checking out a carbon mid wing for a 2007-10 Swift, but am scared to drop $150 if it doesn't fit..
I don't think Ill start any more "exterior mod" threads. Not much interest. Ill post a pick when I figure out my mid wing, perhaps Ill try a DIY when I get vacation time this fall
custom is very very expensive. especially if you want it to lead to bolt on style parts.
as far as a mid wing goes, go used for cheaper.

problem with a mid wing on the aveo though is most of them mount where we have no hatch, just tail lights.
People probably scared to post things on here anymore from all the negative responses received from other members. Honestly tho I can't lead you in the right direction on this. There's not many places around these parts that work with cf. if fiberglass would work you could try a body shop they might have the know how or point you in the right direction
A simple way to make a mirror block off plate to mount a universal mirror to is cut two/three triangles the shape of the mirror base on the car, drill holes in the lower piece to put studs on. then glue / epoxy the top piece of plastic to hid the holes and stud backs.
the outer piece would be the same process to mount the mirror. just have it all lined up before you epoxy it. once glued bevel the edges and then paint it whatever look your going for.

Thanks, I got aan idea or 2 on the mirror thing, I may create a few foam mock ups on a spoiler this weekend to see if I want to proceed ( I used to work with ornamental plaster as an apprentice but was OK at best ) I may try a DIY fiberglass mold, or modify something off craigslist. I will post results but this will drag on forever....to be continued

I was unless u got a lead on somebody, right now Im starting a new job so when I get some free time Im going to try a mock up with some foam for the mid wing and if it looks OK Ill fiberglass it n mount it. Rabbit did bring up a good point about the problem of the wing hitting the lights. If u look at a suzuki swift mid wing from an 07-10 it runs only between the lights across the metal portion of the hatch, or I can mount it across the metal and it can "free float" across the tail lights. I saw a guy on a 240 Nissan forum make a foam wing, cover it with scotch blue tape, then fiberglass/resin it...we'll see. I am glad to see the responses
if you want a good fit, cover the car in saran wrap and then a layer of paper. (mask everything else off for drips) and then lay fiberglass on the car directly. the paper and saran wrap will allow it to be removable and as long as you layers enough saran wrap and paper i will not damage the car at all. it would be almost and air tight fit that you could use a structural adhesive and two sided tape to install your final product. if you do that, then do your foam on top, shape the foam, and fiberglass it and resin it smooth. you could remove it, put in to holes on the mounting side, and use acetone to melt the foam and reinforce the inside of the spoiler with more fiber glass. if you want to install with bolts drill the holes and put bolt through the first layers of fiberglass (you need a squared plate on the head welded) then the fiberglass will hold it in place..
there are thousands of ways to do it. to do it well is the hard part.
