lol i wanna see the pics
About a month ago, it was snowing pretty good here in WA. One night, my mom took a broom to the roof of my car to clear the snow off of it! I looked at my car the other day, and it looked like she touched the hood too! It was very noticeable, even in the garage with no real good light on it. But I was able to get rid of those horrid scratches by using Meguiar's Swirl X Swirl Remover, followed by Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. The Swirl X & Ulitmate Compound will do a pretty good job of eliminating light scratches from your paint. For big scratches & chips in your paint, Turtle Wax makes this amazing product called Color Magic Car Wax. They include a chip stick with this wax, which really helps eliminate those deeper scratches & chips. The chip stick & wax is made specifically for a certain color. My dad got this for his Pontiac, which is black, and the chip stick did a great job eliminating all of the scratches & rock chips from his front bumper.
go buy a shuttsco sno-rake.. its "scratch-free"
That looks very handy, but I just use an ice scraper with the brush end to push off snow (which is way better than a straw broom). I wasn't even gonna bother brushing off the snow anyways. I knew my car wasn't gonna go anywhere for the next few days, and there was no point as it was still snowing and sticking very well. But my mom tried to give me crap about it'll ruin my car and what not. Oh well, as I said, got the scratches worked out with the Swirl X & Ultimate Compound. I just don't wanna see a broom anywhere near my car again for very obvious reason.
the bristles on the brush are just as bad for scratches..
we used the sno rake at the shop when i worked for exotic cars.
Actually, does it work really well? I haven't heard of it until you mentioned it.
i like it because you can push/pull a large amount of snow off the car with out swatting at it like a brush..
you can also use it in a way that you leave a "film" of snow on to not contact the paint at all which is how i use it.
but i can clear my car and van off with it in 5 minutes.. even with 3 ft of snow. I bought the $15 one, leave it on the porch for the most part. My wife appreciates it as well because it helps her reach where even the brush couldn't
(not to sound like a commercial, but its not sold in stores and i only came across it because of work)
yeah, astro vans.. and miatas... thats right.
I remember reading about someone who once said whenever they got a new car, he and his wife had a "brick ceremony" in the driveway when they got it home.
1) set up a step ladder at the front bumper,
2) get brick,
3) climb ladder,
4) drop brick onto hood.
"Now we can stop worrying about all the future scratches, dings & dents we're going to get!" **
I've been at both extremes with various cars: I've had ones I polished every weekend, shampoo'd the interior 2 or 3x a year, and generally worried about, and others (in the same starting condition) where I only bothered to clean the windows & lights and didn't care about getting (a little) banged up.
