The only problem I had with my driver's side lock is this: It quit working from the outside. I could get it from the inside. I had to open the door panel and found a nut fell off the arm from the outside door lock. What a pain in the a$$. I had manual locks in a 2006 SVP Hatch.

I prefer manual locks, which is why I am happy with my 06 SVP.

Is there a way to get rid of this safety lock? would much prefer to lock the car from the inside then close it. Its a pain in the butt with two kids to have to still have the keys in your hand once you are outside the car.

Yeah, it's not that big of deal but I don't like not having a hand on my 2 year old in a walmart parking lot and I figured if it is as easy as two screws or something I would do it.

I believe there is a how to on this. All you have to do is cut a little piece of the mecanism... IIRC.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
