A good way to check is to pull off a rubber seal off from around your door jam or anything that's not directly exposed to sunlight. If it faded the only real thing to do is get it resprayed color and clear
Your right, that if the clearcoat is faded then repainting is the way to go. The OP keeps stating that the clearcoat is intact so I'm thinking that a detailer with better products and equipment can restore the shine again or at least advise them that the car will need to be repainted to get the showroom shine that they are looking for.

I don't think he's worried about the clear being to shiny I think this whole thread is about the actual color of the car being faded out

Plastidip peels off, but really only when you want it to. Its durable and withstands car-washes and pretty much anything you throw at it...as long as you have good enough coats, it wont peel off until you want to change the look again.
I havent fully plastidipped mine, only parts of it but I definitely think trying it is worth it.
Driving at the speed limit--hideous thought.

Ok...stop the replies. I am not looking to 'paint' my car with spray cans ,and have it peel off over time. My clearcoat is fine, I just thought that MAYBE I could get a new clearcoat put on to make it look SHOWROOM shiny. It is in fine shape, not faded or peeling or rusting. The paint is of course lighter than it was 7 years ago, it is south Fla, and when I had my spoiler put on my hatch last year, it is darker than the rest of the car, like 2 shades darker, but only I notice it, up close. Repainting it entirely is now out. After thinking about it. Why bother, it would never look as good as the robots that painted it at the factory. Unless I want to pay more than the car is now worth, even as good as I keep it and the super low miles, spending over a $1,000 on a repaint it silly, and it seems I cant do a re-spray of clearcoat....so I will just wax it as usual, maybe hire a mobile detailer to treat myself my car to an intricate cleaning/waxing. That's like at the most $75-90 here in Ft.Laud. Thanks for the opinions.
