      faded black trim

      Hello

I have some faded black trim on my car (on the unpainted parts of the mirror). I used some various wax's and that didnt really help it might even look more white ....

Any ideas I know there are products out there but just dont know whats the best....

I used this once but didnt last that long

      Thanks

i think it is meguirs? but you want a product called "back to black"

also was causes white build up on plastic parts. a good scrubbing with a 409 or simple green my be enough. but you will need to keep those off the rest of your car. it may strip the wax from everywhere it hits.

I dont know what the product 409 is

and Back to black did not work to well on my last car and simply washed away after a couple of washes

I found the product simple green

      http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/produ ... earch=true

I think that might help ? My problem might be is a build up of wax and other garbage residu.

those links dont work for me?

but 409 is like a kitchen/household cleaner. simple green is "kinda" an environmentally friendly oven/everything cleaner.

neither is supposed to be used on cars. but when we paint raw plastic (and used) parts, we wash them with these to strip all the waxes and such out of them to begin the prep for painting process.

If you have a Harley Davidson dealer near you ask them for Black Out. Or go to www.cleancycle.com and look for it there.

I use it on my Harley, truck, the Aveo trim, and my 4 wheeler...it works great.

i love simple green. the stuff is amazing. is it oxidation that builds up on the pieces that causes it?

      Re: faded black trim

simple green did not work for me

i think the problem is cheap plastic

Paint will be the solution or replacement of the plastic part but it will fade as well I bet....

Did you sand the plastic and then used a Primer ? or did you just spray it (off the car)
