anyone ever done one of these?? is it hard to do?? is it worth it?? any other thoughts, ideas, suggestions about these products?
i have ordered from this person and they are pretty good to deal with, but i am only wonderin if it would be a wise choice for my cars headlights. i always have a bulb burn out ever 4-6 months (very annoyin) so would this be a good substitute?
well I can say more later, i have eto go to work NOW....
but I have Euro Dezigns halogens and they lasted like a month.
So i cant imagin their HID kits being good....
but yeah i can explain some stuff later...
i am actully planing on buying a ebay HID kit just to see how they are. as far as installation it is not hard at all.
really, the ones i bought lasted like 4 or 5 months before the one side cut out on me. i thought they were pretty good, look forward to ur input!Quote:

I think it's funny that they show images of their seals of approval from the DOT, yet they are so small that you can't tell anything from them...

Well first off, it is illegal for you to have HID's in a non HID housing period. Second, the lights will burn out in no time unless you disconnect the DRL. Third, they look brighter in certain areas, but offer less overall lighting and way more glare. They are dangerous for all other drivers on the road hence why they are illegal.

as aveodude wrote, all HID lighting in a reflector housing is illegal. Even my retrofit with 100% OEM equipment is illegal because the housing was not approved for HID. There will be glare on almost any retrofits (mostly "ceiling" glare), but almost all of it doesnt effect oncoming drivers.
If you want better lighting, skip paying for the HID kit, and just do a full retro from the get go, you will not regret it.

this video is great because not only does he have one HID kit in one headlight and the other stock to show good differences but you can also tell just how much glare you get. Also notice that the halogen side is actually puting out more useable light on the GROUND, where it counts!

Very true...Most "bulb swap" HID conversions are actually ILLEGAL in the USA to sell, except as a replacement bulb for stock HID applications. These Ebay companies get away with it by either shipping them in from Asia, or selling them as "replacement" setups, and disclaiming that they are intended for off-road use only.
Either way, I suggest you do it right with a full-retro swap, or wait a few months and buy some HID projector-style Aveo headlights from Aftermarket Aveo... :D

I just recently started selling high quality HID kits with a 18month warranty. I read tons of things like you guys are saying about the glare, blinding other drivers, ect... but on the three cars I've installed HIDs into I haven't seen any evidence of this. 10000k kit into my reno projectors, 12000k kit into regular headlights on an 04 civic, and 4300k kit on a 2007 ion with regular headlights. We drove past each other many times around my house on the city streets and none of them blind oncoming traffic. My projectors cut the light off 100% at the line of the projection. I really regret not getting HIDs three years ago, the only reason I didn't is cause I was always told it'd blind oncoming traffic.
Though the aveo headlights maybe different. I'm installing a 10000kit into my foglights and a 12000k kit into a 94 civic within the next month as well. They are illegal as well, but here in Arizona I doubt I'll ever get pulled over and if the cop doesn't know much about it the HID kits are DOT legal so you can try to show him that in hopes of getting let off.
Oh also I saw that someone posted HIDs don't always put as much light to the ground as regular halogens. Haven't seen that at all with any of my kits. We put the 4300k kit in my projectors since it has the most lumens just to see how it compared to a BMW 330ci. The light on the ground was just as good, with the same distance, the only thing the HID kit lacked was as much width. Keep in mind the 330ci projectors are probably 3k each or something stupid like that.
Thought I'd post some pics...unfortunitly these are all I have. This is my forenza w/ reno projectors and 10000k kit. The headlights are sorta AIMed, just need to be dialed in. Worst part about these pictures is I still had my headlight housings tinted DARK which scattered the light slight but even still you can see the cut off line is pretty decent. Also the cars pointing downhill.

I hate it when kids with their HIDs drive behind me or are coming toward me. I always get blinded even with the 5% tint on my rear windshield. And you cant say that there is no glare. Think about it. When the stock bulbs light up, the bottom portion is lit inside the bulb. When you flick the high beams on, the top portion is lit. In an HID bulb, the whole bulb is lit the whole time. That is like having you high and low beams on at the same time. I stole this from another site but proof is in the pictures.

The first headlights offered will be for the Gen 1 Aveo, US Spec. headlights. After we see the market on them there could be others as well down the road.

Actually the picture lies. That pic is of when I first installed them, and at first they only had a blue tint to them (when the pic was taken), I took the picture and couldn't beleive how blue it looked. Since they have broken in though they have gotten more blue, but still far from what the pictures showQuote:

Just look at that glare from the first pic. That is what people see when you drive toward them.

You want as close to 4300K as possible. The higher or lower you get, the less lumens it produces
ok so i lied. i bought a hid kit. (i have a feeling i will get bashed for this). now its not as bad as some of u fellas make it out to be. indeed there is much glare but not all that bad. also the beam pattern is narrowed a bit but i will fix that as i want to also aim them downwards a bit as well. the cutoff line also is a wee bit scrambled but its not all that bad either. i mean seriously, it was made out to be that these will totally rob u of ur vision and so forth but i actually feel it was a bit of an improvement. i will take some pics and do some driveby testing later on, prolly next weekend as i will be going on vacation in a few days and i am working double shifts all weekend at work. on a side note i ordered the 30,000 k hids which if u dont know is a light purple. its a lil more white than purple but u can def. see the some purpleness to it. i will know more as i drive and experience them more and as they break in.Quote:

After driving around ALLOT more with my HIDs, and now with them in my fogs as well I can say for sure that the HIDs in my factory projectors create NO glare that effects traffic in any way. The only glare I've been able to find goes straight up and ~3 feet infront of the car when parked in my garage. The only way it could get in oncoming traffics eyes/mirrors is if they were on a cliff above me, and even then the glared light isn't very bright. As for the pictures, they are no example of the HIDs. The picture obviously shows tons of glare, and honestly if it were that bad I would have taken off the HIDs right away. As for my fog lights though, well I'm not 100% sure if I'm keeping them, I need to have someone drive my car while I'm in my other one to see if they're blinding. They have a pretty good amount of glare, but it's in strange areas that I can't tell if it effects traffic.
The new Nissan altimas and Acura TSXs OEM headlight have tons more glare than my OEM projectors w/ HID's. They seam to even have more blinding light than my fogs, but my fogs definitely take the win for more glare. By blinding light I mean then seam to shine directly at me, where as my fogs light (and what I mean by glare) are just extreamly bright at the source.Quote:

That is a TSX projector. That cutoff is razor sharp. Unless he hit a bump or the road had dips, that light stays well below your line of sight.
And if you really want to see how bad your lights are, get someone to switch cars with you and have them follow you. I will assure you that the whole interior of the car you are driving will be lit up and you will be blinded. Then you can take turns driving towards each other and tell me it does not get in others eyes.
You can see the glare plain as day in your picture. Here are 2 pics of and Evo that I took. This is a great example of how the glare does not get into your eyes with the projectors.

It maybe the TL but either way I get blinded by those acuras and the altima daily and not just in my low car, sometimes in my 4x4 expendition as well. I drive 50+ miles a night so I've been paying close attention to this the last week or so. There are a few other cars that blind me pretty badly but in there cases I think it's just because my cars so low. The altima and acuras get me several times a night.Quote:

But I LOVE the HIDs on my TSX... even when my girl follows me when I drive the Jeep, we have no problems...
i helped my friend put in a Kit in his FJ it was a pain in the ass to put iut we did it in like less then an hour. now he bitches about my Aveo lights everytime he is in my Aveo at night.
