what wattage did you buy? OR what wattage to the ballasts draw?
there 35w ballasts, 6000k bulbs
From what I understand about HID kits they take more power to "fire" them up but once they are running they only consume about 2/3 the power/current than it does to run your halogens. As far as 35w or 55w goes, unless youare running them in HID specific projectors 55w will blind the **** out of evryone on the road.35w is more than enough light in the road to make a huge difference over your stock or upgraded halogens. Some websites sell projector kits for a retrofit for HIDs and are relatively inexpensive. Check out theretrofitsource.com for projectors and kits or ddmtuning.com for HID kits(both vendors have a good record). Best of luck.
Wattage is also the consumption, not just brightness. but you are right in the fire up and running consumption. But they don't DRAW more power to fire up,that would blow the fuse. What the ballast does, gives the lights a full charge, to they are at full power all the time. HID bulbs do not like to be run on anything less than a full charge, it kill their longevity, down to a few months in some cases.
So the ballasts "should" consume 35w, but they might just send 35w to the bulb.. You would need to meter to verify. But in that case, they would use less power than the oem.
Just on a small side note. 2010 Aveo5. What size bulb would I require for headlights ( and is it both hi/lo beam in one bulb) and what size for fog lights.
Headlights are 9003 (H4/HB2) hi/lo beams. The Fogs are H3
Thanks. Ratchet
How do you go about adjusting the aim of the headlights any way. i got rammed by some teenage *&$% that had daddies toyoda car and when the lights got fixed they were aimed wrong. now for once my little aveo is blinding picup truck drivers
Ahh sweet revenge.
There should be a couple of bolts or torque screws or something in that area to adjust them. 2 for each light, one for the up and down, the other for the side to side. You might have to take the grill off to do this. The grill is only a few screws and a couple clips and then it comes right off. Make sure you look up a good guide to aim them correctly.
