Hood Dampers
So I was thinking about installing some hood dampers since I am going to have my odd off soon anyways. I didn't find any "universal ones" or any for the aveo specifically. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what I should look for??
Thanks in advance

you need to measure the length between the bolts you choose with the hood up (at rest) and with the hood closed, then you buy a hatch strut that has that same lengths when compressed (hood closed) and when extended (hood open).
the ball bolts on the ends need to match the threads of the bolts as well.

Do I need the strut to fully compress when the hood is closed or do I just need to make sure it doesn't try to overcompress??

if you dont want it to shoot up and hit you in the chin when you hit the safety release, then you need to be in that _____ space near fully compressed..

How much force is too much for something this simple?? Like I found one that is close to the size I need, but it has 60lbs of force which I feel like might be too much

60lbs is a pretty soft shock really. Most ones I see are in the 100-150 range.

I am pretty sure I need approx 14" closed and approx 19.5" open, do you think these would work for me??

Those would work great. You'd just need to figure out a secure way to mount them and you'd be good to go. It doesn't look like the ball sockets come with the shocks though. You'd need to get your hand on some.

You mean the bolts with the balls on the end??, I was looking at that and I might rip them off a civic I got sitting around right now and hope they fit
