How To Paint The Grille ?

I want to paint the grille, on my 2006 Aveo. I painted the center bar red, about 5 years ago. With spray paint. And painted the Chevy badge black, with car touch up paint, like 5 years ago. I am bored with it.

I dont know IF I can get the black paint off the Chevy badge, had I known how much they cost to replace, I wouldnt have painted over it!!

So...I want to paint the entire grille red, and put carbon fiber 'decal' over the badge, or paint it all shiny black, to brighten it up, it is so dull now, from age.

Since I doubt the paint on the badge can be removed without ruining it. Or can touch up paint be removed without ruining the badge?

My main question is....what do I have to do to get it ready to paint? How do I clean it to make it stick? And do I just use plain old Krylon spray paint to paint it? The red is Krylon with primer. Still looks new 5 years later. Would just cleaning it with denatured alcohol do it? Or do I need something else to make the paint stick. I don't think I did more than use the denatured alcohol on the center bar, to paint it red. Or I used paint thinner. Something like that.

Cleaning it with alcohol will work just fine. I don't think you really need to do anymore prep work to it.

Thank you for the reply about cleaning the grille....is regular Krylon spray paint, with primer ok to spray the entire grille?
I dont suppose you have any idea of what I could use on the Chevy Emblem in the grille, to get the touch up paint off it....without destroying the badge??? It is a few layers of black flat 'Honda' touch up paint....had some here, so I used it,why buy new Chevy black..it worked great...but I dont know how to get it of now.

If you're just going to spray over it, I wouldn't bother removing it. However, if you really want to remove it, I'd try to go at it with thinner and some scotch brite probably.

I use Acetone to take the paint off everything!
Be careful with any painted items in close proximity and cleaning plastics.

You can use plastidip. In this way, you can go back to stock look easily.

Sand, prime, paint. No need to replace the grille.

No cant do it. No cash to buy paint, and there was/is some noise coming from the front pass. side wheel, (and i HAVE replaced the bearings all around), only 9K miles ago/3 years to the day. New brake pads early this year. It just CANT be that I pray!!! I dont know what it is,...and afraid to have it looked at. I rather have the wheel fly off and kill myself!
It makes this loud humming/roaring noise at only 40mph, then it is quite, above and below, only at 40mph! It just cant be the bearings. I cant afford that, and in 3 years and 9K miles?! So at this point I might just give up, and walk at 45K miles. And part it out. Hell its all new!
