I want to paint the grille, on my 2006 Aveo. I painted the center bar red, about 5 years ago. With spray paint. And painted the Chevy badge black, with car touch up paint, like 5 years ago. I am bored with it.
I dont know IF I can get the black paint off the Chevy badge, had I known how much they cost to replace, I wouldnt have painted over it!!
So...I want to paint the entire grille red, and put carbon fiber 'decal' over the badge, or paint it all shiny black, to brighten it up, it is so dull now, from age.
Since I doubt the paint on the badge can be removed without ruining it. Or can touch up paint be removed without ruining the badge?
My main question is....what do I have to do to get it ready to paint? How do I clean it to make it stick? And do I just use plain old Krylon spray paint to paint it? The red is Krylon with primer. Still looks new 5 years later. Would just cleaning it with denatured alcohol do it? Or do I need something else to make the paint stick. I don't think I did more than use the denatured alcohol on the center bar, to paint it red. Or I used paint thinner. Something like that.
