      Modifying headlights on my aveo

I run on the original, stock halogen headlights the aveo comes with. I am starting to shop around for some xenon or led headlight replacements.

      Do you have any recommendation?
what can I expect in terms of installation? will it be a headache?

is it better to go with xenon bulbs or led bulbs?

      thx everyone

I have not seen any LED bulbs for the main lights yet. If you find any please post the links.

The above LED lights have a fan to pull away the extra heat. So do you have any justification for the above remark? This is fun part about being a modder, you have to solve engineering problems. So excess heat in a stock headlight case would be an issue, that means you have to engineer a solution to make the two work together.

Headlight reflective patterns are designed for the types of bulbs intended. While putting different, often bigger, and brighter bulbs of a different type in, the reflection changes, and while it might marginally improve vision for the driver, it also blinds everyone else.

You could upgrade the bulbs wattage and in keeping the same style bulb and get able the same effect, and still be able to melt your housings.

55w and 75w hids in the stock headlights work very well. when shopping for led's, do a little research on them. i found out its better to go by the lumens the led's are rated and not the wattage. my friend has been running with the led's in his car for just over a year now and his led headlights are bright and have lasted. when i installed my led's in my aveo's stock headlights (with out the reflector cap), the reflective pattern wasn't that good for light output. i also tried the led's with the reflector cap on and still had poor light output. then several months later all the diodes burnt out. I am now back to hid's and running 100w 10000k hid's in spec-d's projection headlights with no melting or any other issues. 75w and 100w hid's really do light up the road, and i have not yet got any complaints or have been flashed at. hope this helps.

Rabbit, thanks again for posting a rational explanation instead of hyperbole.
