Headlight reflective patterns are designed for the types of bulbs intended. While putting different, often bigger, and brighter bulbs of a different type in, the reflection changes, and while it might marginally improve vision for the driver, it also blinds everyone else.

You could upgrade the bulbs wattage and in keeping the same style bulb and get able the same effect, and still be able to melt your housings.
