Need help deciding about headlight mod...

I've talked to some of you guys about painting the inside of the headlights black. My Aveo5 is Tahiti Green, and the emblems and rims will eventually be black. My boyfriend thinks that it would look cool if I painted the inside of the headlights the same color as the car. There is a website where I can buy spray cans of color code matched paint. ( automotivetouchup.com ) <---anyone know anything about this company while i have brought it up??
I am not sure which one would look best; black or color matched.
So, my boyfriend suggested that I see what my "friends" ( ) think.....????

With your color I think it would look kinda cool. You know you can go down to Napa and get a spray can of your paint color mixed up right? Just a suggestion, I don't know how much it costs where you are, but up here it's like $18 a can. The only problem I see with that though is bubbling and runs, I can see that paint acting up a bit on that chrome inside the lights...You may need to lay down a base of self-etching primer or adhesion promoter before your paint. I went with Dupli-Color flat black engine enamel, it works well so long as you do it in several light coats. I didn't have to sand or use an etching primer or anything with that stuff. Anyways though, I think your paint color would look cool. Thumbs up!

I'll check into Napa, we have one right down the road, that a friend of mine owns.
I still have some plastic paint primer from the emblem paint job (which i havent done yet )
And, because I can't afford a ticket, does anyone know if that would be legal?, what about taking the amber reflector off of the headlights? ( I am pretty sure I have an amber bulb in it anyways)
Hunter- does the Fit have color matched lights? My neighbor has one, so I'll have to sneak over and check hers out. (on my street, we have a Fit, my Aveo, a Yaris, and a Versa.... all hatchbacks..... lol)

It is not illegal, you're not reducing any light output whatsoever. As for the reflector, so long as you have an amber bulb in it I don't see anyone giving you any trouble for it. I painted mine flat black and pulled the reflectors out and replaced with amber bulbs. I love it. BTW, yes the Honda Fit does have color matched headlights, but I think that might be an optional thing as I see all sorts of different color Fit's up here with the stock blackish grey headlights.

its only the fit S, R or sport or whatever honda calls it that has the color matched headlights..

maybe i should join twitter, there are lots of people i would rather talk to in 140 characters or less.



in PA you have to have a reflector that "shines" amber at night. I tinted mine really dark but it still reflects if you point a light at it at night.. so its technically legal.. i have my licenses and build a lot of things just to the limit of the law..

the type R SI fit has them i think :P

Another practical reason to paint the inside of your headlight dark color as opposing to having it chrome is if you decide to go with HID's... having only the reflector for the actual bulb and not all that extra chrome reduces glare quite a bit, at least that's how it works on our 1st gen headlights... It doesn't reduce the light output though, so it's a win-win thing... less glare for oncoming traffic and better light output with HIDs.
