hey guys n girls..
i been away for a while from here... been a bit busyyy..
hers some pics of what ive done lately... choped my roof off
and then almost finished adding my polycarbonate roof on should have it atleast bolted in place by sunday if not by next week depending on my schedule...
its going to be see through i know it does seem it. its because the protective plastic film is still on it. once thats removed i will tint it with limo black tint film, and then it should look AMAZING :P well thats the plan.. :\ fingers crosssed..
leme knw wht u fink..
ive been told im an idiot already so dnt b shy LOLLL.. and any ideas are more than welcom..
im thinking to spray my litl vortex generators (lil spikes at the back) in white and the spoiler in carbon fiber bonet carbon fiber and rest of car in white... and my side skirts and rear wide arches all in carbon fiber as well... and some NIICEEE 18" or 19" CHROME RIMS to finish it off
before u say they wont fit... they will on mine.. becuase ive cut away at the original fender and car body to allow extra room for the wheel space... maybe even thinking of having wideer 19's on the back and normal 18 or 17's on the front.. as my wide arch at the back is so wide n chunky...
well we shal see in due time.. il cross that bride when i get there as they say lol..
hey guys as ive got another kalos im thinking to do the roof again but this time after all the problems i faced on the previous set up i think im going to do some more planning and research for this.
i've been looking around and i see theres a heap more available out there now regarding possible swaps with the obvious mod here and there.
im thinking to get the roof off another car and create some sort of frame which will hold it with enough support so i still have some strength to the structure. from what i recall the plastic was strong but it still flexed a lot more than what i would want.
i've seen the roof on the peg 206, mini coopers, and a fiat stilo. the stilos one size wise seems perfect as it covers most the roof but i dont like that its in parts, so you have bars going across, i just want a clear sight as you look up, so bigger panels of glass. and i would want glass so i can get it tinted and know if it smashes or something happens i have a part that i just have to search for rather than re-fabricate another one.
anyone with any prior experience with anything like this, any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
if you weld/structure in a ridge (trying to make sense here) basically cut your hole about the size you would and then add and edge/ridge like the wind shield would have. and on the back side of that, create a web using the edge to pinch weld and brace it to the existing structure of the roof, as well as reinforcing the stock roof corners etc.
The size shape of the hole would be the shape of the glass, you would install it like a windshield with urethane.
I am thinking you could find a piece of tempered glass off the side of a bus, or minivan or something that would fit appropriately. You would need to mount it stepped so the water doesnt gather in the ridge..
My only worry with having such a large sheet of glass is if it cracks in the middle when i take a corner really fast testing the cars structure... Also a big issue i came across last time was sag in the middle which i resolved by welding a bar from the cars side to the other side replicating the curve of the roof for water to flow when it rains. I welded only 3, but was more than enough as the plastic wasnt heavy which isnt so true with glass.
Thats why i was considering just modifying a roof from a car that already has it, well just use the panoramic roof area and weld a frame or some structure accordingly.
My cars structure should be o as i already have front and rear strut bars in my boot and under the bonnet and then planning to invest in some anti roll bars later on this year after a few other projects on M33 EVL.
and then maybe a sheet or tinted glass/lexan or something going all the way to the back, but not the full width of the roof but wide enough without disturbing the rails for the 206 roof...
but id only do that if this roof doesnt cover enough, but it looks like it should..
i couldnt wait.. as i was typing this clicked buy it now
