Hey folks. I just wanted to give a word of Praise to Testor's translucent black/smoke spray paint. After months of searching for VHT Nightshades, I was directed to a hobby shop to try and find a viable replacement for tinting some side markers, lights, etc. I picked up a couple of cans of Testor's Smoke Paint and used that for my tinting job. I gotta say it works great and looks just as good as the VHT Nightshades from what I've seen in pictures. A word of caution; use several light coats instead of globbing it on there. It may LOOK like it isn't actually going on at all if you do light coats, but after a few coats it will dry and have a nice smoked out look. I tested it first on a spare reflector, and just did a heavy coat off the bat. It ran and when it dried it had ugly marks on it from where the paint ran. So on my front turning signals I probably did about... 8-10 LIGHT coats and it worked great. This was at night time so I was judging it from my garage light, and this morning I noticed it could probably use another coat or two to finish it off to my desired darkness level. They match my black car almost perfectly, and the turning signals light is still able to come through when turned on.
A+ on Testors for anyone looking for some tinting spray!
