I have a 04 hatchback...I dont know how much help this will be as the 1st and 2nd gen front ends have differences. Tail lights I cannot help you with, but I recently replaced a turn signal lens and to get to them you have to remove the headlight. First you have to remove the grill. If you were doing only one side you could just get away with removing enough to peel the grill back a little to get the headlight out, but you are doing both, so just remove it. with that done, you should find on the headlight the grey plastic shroud that holds the headlight. there are three (3) bolts holding the headlight assembly to the frame, these bolts are easily visible and if memory serves me correctly they are 1/2inch bolts. with that dont you can wriggle the headlights out and then just disconnect the headlight from the wiring to the bulb. hope this helps, good luck.

3 10 mm bolts and pull at about a 70* angle for the headlights

two screw/bolts and an "ass slap" for the tail lights

I got them off pretty quick and easily. Thanks for the ass slap technique.
