I also noted that no W-bodies were on that regretted list *smirks*

I see CRX's fro that era falling apart all the time. meanwhile the Grand Prix's chug along. And given the CRX's solid beam rear suspension, I'd wager the Pontiac was better.Originally Posted by petrified.rabbit

As for fwd platform cars go the rear solid beam is a preference by alot of people and companies. The aveo included.
Wow, you guys did take the discussion to the next level. Lamborghini doors were first introduced in Europe. So were xenon HID lighting. So were halo headlights on BMW... so were the LED tail lights and led strips on Audi. Most of mods we try to imitate were originally found on imports... that's just a note on the op's topic.
2006 Chevrolet Aveo a.k.a. Holden Barina – SOLD
2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/TC - SOLD
Aveo has a Torsion beam. and on a FWD car as large as the W-body cars, the fully independent suspension works rather well.Originally Posted by petrified.rabbit

sorry thats a local slang, torsion beam= solid axle.. but as i said, axle vs irs is preference, neither is proven better than the other.
but i also just caught something, i didnt confirm what you said. the 1988 CRX has IRS.

quote from link:
Multi-control double-wishbone rear suspension also cancels out unwanted steering effects as the wheels encounter bumps, contributing the CRX's stable and steady ride.
picture too..
sorry. I read my article too fast. the old CRX had torsen beam and a semi-independent rear. the 88+ had a fully independent but complicated set up.Originally Posted by petrified.rabbit
