Very shallow mount 6.5" speakers in the doors and yes you should remove the door panel. 4x6 in the rear.
Or you could use the original mounting bracket and just leave the 4" size if you're running the sub. Then you won't have to guess what size you want... And you have to take off the door panel, there is no other way to get to the speaker. The only issue with installing 6.5 speaker in the front is that only 4" part of the speaker is exposed. When you take off the door panel, lift it up and let a light shine through where the speaker is - you will see that even though it looks like it's all got little "holes" for the sound to go through, only 4" area is actually exposed...Originally Posted by Don_Deezy

I was thinking about the 6.5s in the front and maybe drill out some holes but I heard that if you don't get a shawlow enough speaker the window will not shut. Does anyone know of any speaker that will fit for sure.
Yeah, the fronts are 4"coax and the rears are 4"x6". You can fit a 6.5" component speaker in the front doors behind the door panel if you use a 1" speaker spacer, but you cant use the fancy aftermarket speaker grilles. I recommend MB Quartz components.

They will shut if the speaker is too big/deep, you're just running a chance of cracking the glass/breaking the speaker if you roll it all the way down.Originally Posted by screech985

True, you might look into Boston Acoustics components...they have a wide line of shallow speakers and subs that sound great and are pretty affordable.

what about a sub, if i just went with the 4's in the front does anyone have a good way to mount it out of the way. my car gets used a lot with the backseats down or even out, so if i were to put a sub in it would need to be mounted somewhere were it was not in the way. anyone have any ideas. or pics of theres
Maybe pull the spare tire out and make a false floor with the sub in the spare tire slot? I think that's what I'm gonna do.

i would build a fiberglass box against the sidewall on the drivers trunk. you could do a 8-10" sub would need to know what amount of air space to pick a sub,, but if you go within an inch of the speaker shelf and into the 1/4 by removing the factory carpet, i imagine you could get 1.5-2.0 cubic ft..
